Never Give Up Hope! This calico kitty has found her way home! Her owner has been looking for her for 6 months. She must have been a resourceful kitty and possibly met some kind people along her journey. Oh, and she only has three legs! There were many people who helped "connect the dots" so she could be reunited with her owners. I would especially like to thank the kind lady who called Star of the North about this kitty. She couldn't keep her in the house because of her allergies but was concerned that it was cold and something might happen to her. When I picked her up that night she had the kitty wrapped in a sweatshirt in her arms in spite of the fact that she was already sniffling. She really was the key to CalicoCoco finding her way home again. Apparently other people who knew about her were reluctant to help. I called her to let her know the outcome and she cried with happiness. Thanks, again, to everyone who pays attention to the plight of these little guys. It takes a village to save an animal! Way to start the New Year!

Star of the North Humane Society is a foster-based humane society operated entirely by volunteers. Our volunteers help with rescuing and rehoming unwanted companion animals. The animals taken in by us are placed in foster homes until they can find their new homes. We also facilitate a low-cost spay/neuter program for people with a household income of less that $40,000, and we distribute donated pet food to local food shelves, small rescue groups, and needy individuals. When you call, please leave a clear message. There is no one to take your initial call, but we make every effort to respond as soon as possible. If you have submitted an application to volunteer, foster, or adopt, your application will be processed as soon as possible and you will receive an email or phone call confirming the status.
